Birdella M. Herrig, 86 of Moline died January 22, 2007 at her home.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. January 25, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday with a rosary at 4p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Springbrook, IA. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook, IA.
Birdella was born September 28, 1920 in Jackson Co., IA to John M. and Mary Ellen Horan Herrig.
During WWII she was a civilian employee inventory clerk working on the McClinnian Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. She also had been a sales clerk in a dress shop in Cedar Rapids, IA. For 42 years she owned and operated Birdella's Beauty Boutique, Moline. In 1983 until January 2006 she was a beautician at Louise's Looking Glass, Moline. She was currently working at 15th Street Hair Designers, Moline.
She had been a member since 1941 of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she had been an active member in the Altar & Rosary Society. She was a chapter member since 1958 of the ABWA Plow Capital Chapter. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the national vice president for 17 years for the Beta Beta Lambda Society and also the local president for the McGovern Chapter of the Beta Beta Lambda Society. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Willard L. Velie Post since 1944. She was a social member of the Viking Club and the Svithiod Club. She had been an election judge for Rock Island County for 20 years.
Birdella was always known for having a camera wherever she went and she loved to share the pictures that she had taken with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
