Bruce Burket, age 86, of Moline, died Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., January 24, 2008 at First Congregational Church UCC, Moline with Rev. Paul Scheele and Rev. Allen Mothershed officiating. Per Bruce's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private family inurnment will be in Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Chicago Youth Centers, 104 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL. 60603. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Bruce was born December 18, 1921 in Rawson, OH, the son of John W. and Eugenia D (Davis) Burket. He married Karen Hartman Lagerquist on July 3, 1981 in Chicago.
Bruce was employed as an Industrial Engineer, working for Boeing, General Motors, and the U.S Government retiring in 1982 after 18 years.
Bruce was an Air Force pilot serving in World War II. He received his B.A. from The Ohio State University and his Master's Degree from Florida State University. Bruce was very proud to have worked on the Apollo Missions. He enjoyed traveling, sewing, photography, gardening, Befrienders and fixing anything that was broken.
