Burton "Pidge" W. Martin, 87, of East Moline, IL, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Riverwood Rehab, East Moline, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to elder charities or to the family.
Burton was born on July 13, 1929, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Viola Knoll. He retired from John Deere.
Burton was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Navy. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. He loved to fish and hunt and especially enjoyed his hunting trips to Canada with his friends.
Survivors include his daughter, Karla Brewster, Rock Island, IL, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola, and his aunt, Clara.
