Carol Southerland, 69, of Silvis, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Lankenau Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15th at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Ovarian and Breast Cancer Foundation.
Carol was born January 9, 1941 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Earl and Elizabeth (McReynolds) Leidig. She was married to David Lee Filbert in 1959 in Rock Island.
Carol was employed as a payroll clerk for John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, retiring in 2001. Upon retiring she went to be a greeter at Walmart. She attended Heritage Wesleyan Church and loved her bible study at the church. She loved to travel and her favorite trips were visiting her daughter Sherri in Paris and going to the Gulf Shores, Alabama with her sister Betty and brother-in-law Bob. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. While in Philadelphia, she had a dear friend, Barbara Huisler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Cox, brother-in-law Terry Cox and nephew Eddie Steele.
