Carolyn S. Trefftzs age 63 of East Moline died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Pathway Hospice, Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, IA.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Project Graduation at Moline High School.
The former Carolyn Sue Johnsen was born September 4, 1942 in Kewanee, IL a daughter to Ralph and Dorthea (Palmer) Johnsen of Galva. She married John M. Tadie on November 9, 1963 in Galva. He died on October 14, 1976. They had a daughter Susan. Carolyn later married Lane Trefftzs on November 7, 1981 in Moline.
Carolyn graduated from Galva High School in 1960 and Cottage Hospital School of Nursing in Galesburg in 1963. She started her nursing career at Lutheran Hospital in Moline and spent 29 years at Illini Hospital in Silvis retiring in October 2004.
Carolyn was a member of First Covenant Church in Moline. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading,cross word puzzles, boating on the Mississippi in their boats " The Susie J" and " The Carolane". They went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in February every year for 20 years and made many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Lane, daughter Susan Gushanas, Moline, grandson John Tadie, Moline sisters-in-law Nancy Carter, Littleton, CO, Helen ( Gene) Basehore, Peotone, IL Mary Jane Linke, Dixon, IL, brother-in-law Willie Tadie, Hartville, WY. Cousins Phyllis Blake, Lafayette, IL & Mary Ruth Purchase, Galesburg.
