Carroll Corwin, who resided in Downey, CA since 1963, died at home on April 21, 2011 after suffering many years with Alzheimer's Disease.
Graveside service will be held at Chippiannock Cemetery on May31, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carroll was born on May 31, 1933 in Edgington, Illinois to William R. and Ida Mae Rursch Corwin. He was the eldest of 2 sons.
He married Joyce Boetje on May 16, 1954 in Rock Island, Illinois. He graduated from Rock Island High School, Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 ~ 1956.
Carroll and his family moved to California in 1963 when he was transferred to Rockwell International from Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was also employed by McDonnell Douglas, Ocean Technology, Institution, Honeywell, and retired in 1990 from Northrop Corp.
He is survived by his brother, Lloyd (Darlene) Corwin, his wife, Joyce, and 4 children, Teresa (Steve) Arias, David (Linda) Corwin, Michael and Robert Corwin, and 6 grandchildren; Joel, Jordan, Justin Arias, and Kirsten, Allison, and Daniel Corwin.
