Ceola Parks

January 8, 1929 — March 28, 2009

Ceola Parks, age 80, of Moline, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at her home.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to New Journey AME Church, Moline.
Ceola was born January 8, 1929 in Gholston, Mississippi. She was the 5th child of 12 born to the union of Callie and Willie Martin. She grew up in Mississippi and married Tyson Parks, Sr. in Louisville, Mississippi in 1947. They later moved to the Quad-Cities, residing in Moline until her death.
Ceola worked for many years as a seamstress. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and shopping. She had been a member of St. Paul AME Church, Moline serving on the Steward Board, Pastor's Aid and a member of the choir.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Ruthie Morgan, Moline, IL; Reverend Tyson Jr. (Pearly) Parks, Danville, IL; Bernice Harrell, Inglewood, CA; Christine Parks, Moline; Larry (Laura) Parks, Moline; Gary (Teresa) Parks, Rock Island; special niece Ethel Crosby (Moline), 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tyson Parks, Sr.; son, Willie Russell Parks; parents; Callie and Willie Martin; sisters, Georgia Reed, Willie Lee Haynes, Lester Crosby, Ethel Hudson, Glade Perry, and Grace Williams; brothers, Marshall Martin, Roscoe Martin, Matt Martin, Henry Martin, and Charlie Martin.
She will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother, and Aunt Ceola.
