Charles “Chuck” M. Gleason, 77, of Sherrard, passed away, November 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 25, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday November 24, 2024, with a prayer service to begin at 1 p.m. Cremation rite will follow services. Memorials may be made to the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department or Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Chuck was born on February 10, 1947, in Moline, the son of Francis Lester “Les” and Lillian J. (Pulford) Gleason. He married Pat Sheehan on November 20, 1965. He later married Cathy C. Richardson on June 12, 1976, in Hampton, IL. Chuck had previously been employed as a machinist and welder for John Deere Harvester, retiring in 2005. He was a volunteer in the fire brigade and EMT for Harvester. Chuck was a member of UAW Local 865, East Moline and served as a union steward. Chuck was a member of the East Moline American Legion Honor Guard, an Honor Flight of the Quad Cities volunteer and was active with the Moline Second Alarmers. Chuck was also a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Sherrard Volunteer Fire Department and former chairman for the Sherrard Fish Fry. He was a member of the Rock Island County Historical Society and was an altar boy serving in his younger years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline. Chuck loved riding his Harley, fishing, playing euchre, and was the King of all dad jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy, son, Charles (Tamar) Gleason, Jr., St Louis, son, Sean (Misty) Gleason, Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Brittany Shea, Rock Island, Nicholas (Andrea) Shea, El Paso, TX, William Dawson, St. Louis, Miranda Dawson (Tom Kauffmann), St Louis, Connor Reed, Columbus, GA, Garrett Gleason, Hayden Gleason, Kacie Gleason, all of New Windsor, and Payton Goode, Cordova; great grandchildren, Zane Lucas, Rock Island, Amelia Shea, El Paso, TX; mother-in-law, Betty Richardson, Moline; bonus daughter and son-in-law, Seth (Kelly) Goode, New Windsor; brother-in-law, Stevie (Pat) Richardson; and sister-in-law, Robin J. Richardson.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sherri Shea, grandson, Christian Shea, parents, father-in-law, Bob Richardson and brother-in-law, Bob Taylor.
