Charles David Crockett, 76, of Rapids City, IL, died Thursday, February 21, 2013, at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February, 25, 2013, at Wildwood Church, 18717 Hubbard Road, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Church or to the Lymphoma Research Foundation.

Charlie was born on June 28, 1936, in Hayti, MO, the son of Neal and Shellie (McMahan) Crockett. He married Gwen Logue on June 9, 1962, in Port Byron, IL. Charlie worked as a welder with Case IH for 32 years, retiring in 1991. He was an avid collector and dealer of farm toys and well known and respected by many other collectors. Charlie enjoyed being outdoors and caring for his gardens, flowers, and home. He was a good friend to many and enjoyed helping others, especially his church family. Charlie could often be found attending his grandchildren's many activities. Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, daughters and sons in law, and grandchildren. He was their "Tower of Strength".

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Lee Crockett; brother, Byron Crockett; and sister, Susie Noe.
