Charles H. Gustafson

Charles “Charly” H. Gustafson, 77, of Silvis, passed away, Thursday October 12, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 21, 2023, at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Private inurnment will be at Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church or YouthHope.

Charly was born on August 7, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Walter E. and Dorothy (Tubbesing) Gustafson. He married Deborah M. Hendren on March 30, 1984, in Moline. Charly was active in the Scouts and was proud to have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Air Force. Charly was previously employed as a Senior Designer with Mediacom. He continued working part-time in maintenance and technology at YouthHope.

Charly was a member of First Evangelical Free Church where he spent much of his time volunteering. He was a member of the Milan Rifle Club. Charly loved computers, technology, and trains. Charly loved working behind the scenes and helping people.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; children, Melissa VanDam, Becky Gustafson, Matt (Genevieve Marmaduke) Gustafson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; sister Doris and two grandchildren via miscarriage.
