Charles D. Harris, 82, of Moline, IL, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, IL.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013 at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Those wishing to attend will need to be at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, at 9:45 a.m. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the funeral home. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
Charles was born on January 15, 1931, in Browing, MO, the son of Norman and Loy (Martin) Harris. He married Betty J. Brown on December 5, 1953 in East Moline, IL. Charles worked as a cement mason, retiring in 1993. He belonged to the Cement Masons International Association Local 18. He was a member of Moline VFW Post 2153 and Moline American Legion Post 246. Charles loved gardening and weekend traveling. He enjoyed collecting ballcaps and was never seen without one.
