Charles "Buddy" E. Pope, Jr., 80, of East Moline, IL, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL.

Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1122 West Central Park Avenue, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to Word of God Lutheran Church for the Deaf. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Charles was born on September 6, 1933, in Arcadia, KS, the son of Charles E. and Sarah Caroline (Brown) Pope, Sr. He began his education at Kansas State School for the Deaf in Olathe, KS, and later attended Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, IA.

Charles worked as a press operator for J.I. Case in Bettendorf, IA, retiring in the 1970's. He enjoyed camping, bowling, and spending time with family and deaf friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Emma Pope Kelly; brother, Richard Pope.
