Charles L Stone

Charles L. Stone, 86, of Rock Island, IL, went home to be with his family in Heaven on Monday, November 14, 2016, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Midwest Dachshund Rescue, Inc.  8073 Stonegate Drive, Tinley Park, IL 60487 or Grace Baptist Church.

Charles was born on April 17, 1930, in Moline, IL, the son of Milton and Laura Davis Stone.  He married Thresia M. Peck on August 17, 1981, in Golden, CO.  They lovingly renewed their vows in 2006 with family and friends present.  It was one of the happiest days of his life.  They spent 20 winters together in Texas and enjoyed square dancing and other activities.

Charles was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Colona, IL.  He worked as a semi-truck driver.

Survivors include his step children, Donald (Jeannie Lou) Daniels, Ruby (Doug) Laslie, Glenda (Mike) Hughes, Patsy (Art) Halle, and Katy Leuth; nephew, Lee (Sheree) Daniels and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; special friend, Carol Olson; nephews, Dallas (Roxie) DeShane, Milton (Brenda) DeShane, and Larry Stone – they lovingly called him “Uncle Bill”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and step son, Corbett Daniels.
