Charley Bill Maulsby, 87, of Moline, IL, died Monday, October 31, 2016, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
A time for the family to share stories will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, where military honors will be conducted. A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. at Unionville Cemetery in Unionville, MO, on Saturday, November 5, 2016.
Charley was born on June 20, 1929, in Unionville, MO, the son of Grover & Edna Probasco Maulsby. He graduated from Unionville High School in 1948 and then worked as a clerk at the Moline Post Office for 30 years. Charley became a member of the American Postal Workers’ Union. Following his retirement, he worked in the laundry department of Circa 21.
Charley was a United States Army Veteran, having proudly served during the Korean War, stationed in France. He was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246.
Charley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Unionville and a member of Friend’s Circle. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a member of the Rock Island County Conservation Club.
Survivors include his brother, James (Marlene) Maulsby, Macon, MO; sisters, Agnes Maulsby and Virginia Torrey, both of Unionville, MO; sister-in-law, Bonnie Maulsby, Milan, MO; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Robert (Stella) Maulsby, Jack (DorisJean) Maulsby, Richard (Wynona) Maulsby, and Edwin Maulsby; infant sister, Lois Madeline Maulsby; brother-in-law, Jake Torrey.
