Christine J. Hughes, 55, of Ballwin, MO, formerly of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO, from heart failure after open heart surgery in April.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the chapel at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association or to Christine J. Hughes Memorial Fund to send kids to camp. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Christine was born on June 17, 1958, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Bernard J. and Barbara A. (Heagy) Hughes. She was a 1976 Graduate of United Township High School and attended Black Hawk College where she received her Associate's Degree.
Christine was employed by Trinity Medical Center. She was very proud of being the first employee of The Mark. Also, she was a caretaker for several families. She moved to Chesterfield, MO in 1997 and began working for the Chesterfield Athletic Club where she opened every morning at 5 a.m. with a cheerful smile. She managed the pool and worked with children in the child care room as the Birthday Party Planner, overnight chaperon for lock-in events and for kid's camps. Christine won the Hospitality Hero award for St. Louis County Visitor & Convention Bureau. She was the Employee of the Month numerous times and Employee of the Year twice. Christine was also employed by the Jewish Community Center in the Kid Zone since 1999. Christine had a great love of people and enjoyed meeting them. She was an avid sports fan.
She is survived by her sisters & brother in law, Kathleen & John Daley, and Karen Hughes; nephews & nieces, Barry Hughes, Chris & Stephanie Daley, John Paul & Victoria Daley, Patrick Daley & Kasey Eisleben, and Sean Ryan Daley; and her many cousins and good friends.
