Claire "Sally" Van Oteghem

Claire “Sally” Van Oteghem, 87, of Moline, passed away, April 29, 2024, at her residence.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and the visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Friday May 10, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Rock Island National Cemetery, with the procession leaving the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family.

Sally was born on May 16, 1936, in Moline, the daughter of Minnie and Albert Creen. She married John “Jack” Van Oteghem on July 2, 1955. He preceded her on October 30, 2021. Sally is a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Moline, and she was the director of religious education. She later became a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Sally loved to read, do puzzles, and watch Days of Our Lives. She especially loved to spend time with her sisters.

Survivors include her daughter Marcy Hardy; grandchildren Danielle Nipper, Sarah Hardy, Jessica Avey, and Ashley Van Oteghem; great-grandchildren Ethan Van Oteghem and Issac Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Charles Van Oteghem.
