Clarence Arthur "Art" Lenser 89, of Moline, formerly of Illinois City, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.
Inurnment services will be at a later date at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the Illinois City Methodist Church or the Reynolds American Legion. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., is assisting the family.
Clarence "Art" was born March 12, 1920 in Taylor Ridge, IL to Clarence & Lillian (Beck) Lenser. After graduating from Reynolds High School he served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Clarence married Ruth Cannam in June 23, 1946 in Illinois City. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2009.
He was employed with J.I. Case for 22 years and later with Farmall/International Harvester for 17 years. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and was involved in numerous community activities and organizations. He held memberships with the Illinois City Methodist Church, Reynolds American Legion, where he was the past Commander, Masonic Lodge and the Kaaba Shrine. He was also the former volunteer Fire Chief with the Illinois City Fire Department.
Survivors include brother Ralph (Vi) Lenser, Rock Island, nieces Carol Davis, Moline, Linda Ohl, Rock Island, and nephew Robert Lenser, Florida, great niece, Laura, and great nephews, Brent, Craig, and B.J., great-great nephews, cousins, special friend Douglas Dungan, and other relatives and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John.
