Clarice Ann Charter McDowell Stuhr, 92, formerly of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away January 1, 2020, in Nevada.
Graveside Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020, at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.
Clarice was born February 17, 1927 to Frank and Kathryn Charter in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and is a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Pahrump, Nevada. Clare graduated Valedictorian of her high school class in Guthrie Center and was an honor student at Drake University in Des Moines in the College of Fine Arts, majoring in voice and minoring in piano. Clare married Charles McDowell while at Drake and they were together for 21 years. She used her music education as Minister of Music, directing church choirs in Des Moines, Iowa; Phoenix, Arizona; Las Vegas, Nevada; Mountain Home, Arkansas and Pahrump, Nevada. She began her real estate career in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1962 with Ed Post Realty and in 1972 became their Broker for the State of Nevada with four offices in Las Vegas. On December 12, 1967, she married the love of her life, Calvin Stuhr and they were blessed with a happy life, singing together for over 38 years until Calvin went to be with the Lord in 2006 in Yellville, Arkansas.
She leaves a daughter, Gracy Banks of Pahrump, Nevada and three Stepchildren; Lynn Stuhr, Eric Stuhr and Ellen Rivas all of California; six Grandchildren, and four Great Grandchildren.
