Clayton Richard Bergren

Clayton Richard Bergren, 81, of Green Valley, Arizona, formerly of Moline, Illinois died on Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Arizona.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38 Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glennwood Cemetery, Coal Valley. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or to the family.
Clayton was born January 10, 1930 in Moline, the son of Walter and Ellen Bengston Bergren. He graduated from Moline High School in 1948. He worked at John Deere Harvester Works, Product Engineering Department, for 36 years, retiring in November 1984 as an Administrative Services Coordinator. He was awarded the Certified Administrative Manager designation in 1974. He was instrumental in the design and construction of the Product Development Center in Silvis.
He married Betty Coopman on January 12, 1951. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2007. He then married Sharon Clarkson on February 14, 2009.
Clayton was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Illinois National Guard for 6 years. He was a professional Santa Claus for many years. Clayton was a past president of the Administrative Management Society, member of the Quad City Management Association, member of Moline American Legion Post #246, AARP, Henry County Farm Bureau and John Deere Retirees.
Clayton enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed photography, traveling and working on the computer. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; brother, W. Robert Bergren; and sister, Nancy Tiedge.
