Clyde Emery Hilligoss, age 87 of Moline died Friday, November 3, 2006 at Aspen Rehab and Health Care Center, Silvis, IL.
Memorial services for Clyde will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2006 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline. Private family graveside services with American Legion Post #246 assisting will be held. There is no visitation. The body will be cremated with burial at the Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Moline is assisting the family.
Clyde was born January 6, 1919 in Mercer County, IL. the son of Emery and Mary B. (Welch) Hilligoss. He married Kathryn Isabel (Beard ) July 19, 1941 in the First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, MO.
Clyde retired in 1973 from the Rock Island Arsenal as a tool grinder with 27 years of service. His U.S. Service Records include: U.S. Navy, October, 1940 - January, 1941; U.S. Army Air Corp. November, 1942 - February, 1946; 18th Anti-Submarine Squadron at Langley Field, VA.; Illinois National Guard Battery "B", 123rd Field Artillery, 1948-1951. Clyde was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline; Past Commander and Life member of Fallerans Post 121 of the American Legion in Aledo; Life member of VFW 9972 at Sierra Vista, AZ; member of 40&8 Voiture 237, Rock Island and Mercer County; Past Master and member of Aledo Lodge #252 of AF&AM, Aledo; Past Patron and member of Aledo Chapter #126 of the Order of Eastern Star; Past President of NARFE Chapter #1400 at Sierra Vista, AZ and member of Chapter #338 of Illinois; member of BPOE Lodge #980 of Rock Island and was the Hilligoss family genealogist since 1959.
