Coletta A. Polhemus, 91, of Severna Park,MD, formerly of Moline, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Marley Neck Health Rehab in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10a.m..at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m.at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline, with a rosary conducted by the St. Mary's Alter & Rosary Society at 5 p.m. and also with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Springbrook, IA. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the Altar & Rosary Society.
Coletta was born January 30, 1917 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of John M. and Mary Ellen (Horan) Herrig. She married M. Elliott Polhemus on November 4, 1942 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. He preceded her in death.
Coletta was a hairdresser working at Michaeleen's Beauty Salon, Pat's Beauty Salon in Moline and later at Birdella's Beauty Boutique also in Moline, retiring in 1982. After retirement she worked as a food demonstrator for Eagle's Food Stores.
Coletta was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline, where she was also a Gold Star member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also an assistant Girl Scout Troop Leader at St. Mary's when her daughter Mary Ellen was growing up. She was also a Friends Circle Club life member and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
