Cory & Holly Larson

Cory Alvin Larson, 48, and Holly Ann Larson, 48, both of Sherrard, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, in Sherrard, as the result of a vehicular accident.

Memorial Services for both Cory and Holly will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Swedona Lutheran Church.  Memorial Visitation will be from 4-7p.m., Friday, August 20, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Inurnment will be at Swedona Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Swedona Lutheran Church.

Holly was born on January 5, 1973, in Moline, the daughter of Allan D. and Nancy J. (Montford) Perkins.  She was employed at Cardiovascular Medicine, Moline.  Cory was born on June 1, 1973, in Moline, the son of Maynard L. and Vernita (Larson) Larson.  He was employed as a truck driver for Dayton Freight.  They fell in love at the age of 15 and were married on June 18, 1993, at the Swedona Lutheran Church.  Cory was a very proud graduate of the Diakonia Lay Leadership program, and was a lay minister in Swedona and other congregations.  He also served many terms as President of the congregation.  Holly loved being a mom to both her boys and her pets.  Holly is a record-holding softball pitcher at Sherrard High School.  Holly was known for her laugh, which brought light and life into whatever room she was in.     Both Cory and Holly were very active members of Swedona Lutheran Church, including spearheading the annual ice cream social.   They loved their boys and daughter-in-law with all their hearts.

Survivors include their sons, Dylan (Krysten) Larson, Orion, Logan Larson, Davenport; and a granddaughter on the way; Cory’s mom, Vernita Larson, Sherrard; Cory’s siblings, Greg and Jeanie Larson, Sherrard, Jeff and Angie Nelson, Sherrard, and Staci and Mark Koehler, Sherrard; Cory’s sister-in-law, Lynda Nelson, Carlisle, Iowa; Hollys’ siblings, Lisa Johnson, Maine, and Allan and Marinda Perkins, Holland; nieces and nephews, Brandon Nelson, Angi Nelson, Lauren Reid, Shelbi Nelson, Tyler (Violet) Koehler, Mollee (Michael) Baum, Travis Koehler, Nicholas Koehler, Nathan Koehler, Kaylee Nelson, Karlee Nelson, Cody (Stacie) Johnson, Tyler (Gina) Johnson, Brady (Gina) Johnson, Davin and Sam Perkins; and great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Cory was preceded in death by his Dad who passed away when Cory was 14, and brother, Terri Nelson, passed away in April.  Holly was preceded in death by her parents.
