Cynthia Louise Henson

September 3, 1958 — October 6, 2016

Cynthia Louise Henson, 58, of Colona, IL, died Thursday, October 06, 2016, at home.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016, beginning at 2 p.m. at her home.  Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.  It was Cindy’s wishes for memorial donations to be made to the family for a fund to be established to be paid forward for future victims of the evil disease of cancer.  Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Cindy was born on September 3, 1958, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Harvey and Bertha Hemm Brokaw.  She met the love of her life, Richard L. Henson, in first grade, and married him on October 29, 1977, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Colona, IL.  She worked as a deli clerk for Hy-Vee Silvis, retiring on December 10, 2015, after 29 years of service.

Cindy loved cooking and entertaining for her family and friends.  She was the treasurer for the Ladies’ Auxiliary for the Order of Eagles 1839, Carbon Cliff, IL.  In past years, she was on the Colona Fire Department Auxiliary.

Cindy especially enjoyed riding and driving their ’38 Chevy and volunteering for the Quad City Vintage Rod Club.  She loved riding with her husband and friends on their Harley.  They would travel in their motorhome to NASCAR races all over with their friends.

Her favorite vacation place was the Keys and Marco Island in Florida.  That was her “Happy Place”.

There was never a cat or dog turned away from her home.  She loved her cats dearly.  Above all, she loved and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Henson; sons, Justin (Jennifer Moses) Henson, Jace (Jacci) Henson, all of Colona, IL; Heather Tighe, Geneseo, IL; grandchildren, Landon, Lance, Logan, and Miss Kura; sisters, Char (Dave) Ditch, Moline, IL, and Linda (Steve) Raske, Colona, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Bertha Brokaw.

The family wishes to send special thanks to Genesis Hospice, the Silvis Hy-Vee family, and especially to all of her devoted family and friends for their wonderful care during this difficult time.
