Cynthia "Cyndi" R Ashmun

Cynthia “Cyndi” R. Ashmun, 63, of Milan, died Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA, after a 35 year battle with cancer.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorial mass to be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2502 29th Ave, Rock Island, IL.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave, Moline, IL, with a recitation of the rosary at 3:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Moline Cancer Center or the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Cyndi was born on September 22, 1954, in Moline, IL, the daughter of J Rury and Arla Zink.  She married Tim Ashmun on June 30, 1984, in Rock Island, IL.  She worked as an office manager for Dr. Brozovich for 30 years.

Cyndi, an advocate for women with breast cancer, was active with the Susan G. Komen foundation and Race For The Cure, serving as an Honorary Survivor Chair in 2005.  She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IL.  Cyndi especially enjoyed going on walks, trips to Galena, and craft shows.  She was a loyal friend, and most important to her was her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Tim; daughters, Aubrey Johnson and Rachel Ashmun; grandchildren, Mariah, Andrew Jacob “A.J.”, Alyvia; great grandchildren, Bentley Kai and Silas; siblings, Cheryl (Mark) Grimm, Kaelyn Bush; step siblings, Melonee, Kari, Teresa, Tommy, Linda, and Greg, with whom she shared a special friendship; father, J (Millie) Rury; sister in law, Becky (Regan) Beauchamp; niece and nephew, Alissa and Joshua, and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Arla and her step father, Leslie Docherty.
