Daniel S. "Dyke" Anderson, Sr., 93, of Palmyra, Mo, formerly of Orion, IL, died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2006 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301-4th St., Orion, IL. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Palmyra United Methodist Church ( P.O. Box 646 Palmyra, MO 63461) or the American Diabetes Association ( P.O. Box 1132 Fairfax, VA 22038.)
Daniel was born December 10, 1912 in Colona Township, IL to Oscar M. and Bertha Cushman Anderson. He married Margaret E. Oltman on June 17, 1931 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death on April 16, 1999.
Dyke was a retired International Officer with the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers, AFL-CIO. He retired on September 30, 1976 after 32 years. At the time of his retirement he held the office of International Vice President. He also served as the Labor Member of the 2nd Division of the National Railroad Adjustment Board, Chicago.
Dyke was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
