David "Paul" Heller, 91, of Moline, died Saturday, July 03, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M., on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th, Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.
Paul was born November 1, 1918 in Table Grove, Illinois to James Newton and Ernstine Heller. He married Frances Baum on September 6, 1942. She preceded him in death on March 9, 1989.
Paul was raised on a farm and moved to Moline in the early 40s. He worked for Railway Express until starting at John Deere & Company. Paul retired from Deere's in 1986 after more that 35 years service for the company.
His upbringing on the farm gave him a love and success for growing things. He took great satisfaction and pride in his yearly garden. This is particularly true of tomatoes, which he supplied in abundance to many friends and neighbors.
He served for many years as a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline. There, he worked diligently on various committees and projects.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Paul was one of nine siblings, and is survived by one brother, George Heller, Table Grove, IL
Paul leaves three children: Jerry Heller (Susie), Burlington, Washington; Jean McKay, Denver, Colorado; and Jef Heller (Kim), Westmont, IL. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Paul possessed great pride and love for his family. He was generous to all with loans and support for education and other pursuits. He remembered everyone's birthday. He will be missed by all those who loved him.
Paul is also survived by a dear and special friend for the last 20 years, Janet Rempe.
