David McLaughlin Lindquist I

David McLaughlin Lindquist, age 65, of East Moline passed away on October 11, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island.
Mr. Lindquist will be buried at the Arsenal's National Cemetery, Rock Island. The service is private. Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd. is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of new grandson, Tristan Lindquist's future education.
Mr. Lindquist was born in Galesburg, IL on February 17, 1939, the son of Delma McLaughlin Lindquist and the late Glenn (Doc) Lindquist. He married Rose Jones in 1966. He later married Helena Cupp on May 19, 1979 in Coal Valley.
Mr. Lindquist graduated from Galesburg High School in 1957, where he was a state champion in football. He attended Western Illinois University and graduated from the Chicago Institute of Electronics. He retired in 1995 after 32 years with ALCOA in Bettendorf, IA. as Production Control Coordinator. After his retirement he worked for Pinkerton Security as a security officer, winning several awards including security officer of the year. He also worked security for The Mark of the Quad Cities. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as an electronic airman, and was a member of the DAV.
Mr. Lindquist was an avid golfer and recipient of many awards including local amateur champion. He enjoyed fishing with his family in Wisconsin. David was active in coaching basketball and baseball. He was an animal lover. David's grandfather was Captain James McCutchan of the Iowa Calvary which sparked David's interest in Civil War collections.
Mr. Lindquist is survived by his wife of 25 years, Helena of East Moline; his mother, Delma M. Lindquist formerly of Galesburg and now a resident of Canaan, CT; two sons, John M. Lindquist and partner Mark Spann of North Manchester, IN and David M. Lindquist II and wife Kellie Lindquist of Rock Island; a sister, Cynthia Lindquist Emmons and husband John Emmons of Falls Village, CT; and new grandson Tristan Glenn Lindquist of Rock Island.
