David W. Smith, 65, of Colona, IL, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2017, at Grace Community of the Nazarene, 507 1st Street, Colona, IL.  Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at North Cemetery, Geneseo, IL.  Memorials may be made to Grace Community Church of Nazarene.

David was born on September 26, 1952, in Pontiac, IL, the son of Reverend William O. and Charlotte Williams Smith.  He married Judy Reed on May 24, 2008, in Geneseo, IL.  He served as the pastor for Grace Community Church of Nazarene for 9 years.

David loved Indian artifacts and history. He enjoyed nature, fishing, and boating on the river. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, listening to his brother, Tim, play the piano, and riding motorcycles. David was concerned for everyone’s well-being and was there for his people no mater what.  His true passion was for Christ and he would find any way he could to talk about Jesus and Salvation.

Survivors include his parents, Reverend William O. and Charlotte Smith, Geneseo, IL; wife, Judy Smith, Colona, IL; children, Sarah Hooker, Omaha, NE, and Brian Tate, Colona, IL, Stephanie (Tim) Bell, Davenport, IA; brothers, Tim Smith, Geneseo, IL, and Todd Smith, Geneseo, IL; sister, Charlene (Tom) DeKezel, Geneseo, IL; nephews, Ryan Elliott, Zachary Smith, Logan Smith, and Jason Franklin; niece, Courtney Benke.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and sister-in-law, Joy Smith.
