Denise W. Davis, 82, of Moline, was called home to Jesus on Tuesday December 26, 2023. She spent her last moments surrounded by her loving family and on her favorite holiday, Christmas.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday June 8, 2024, at the Moline Church of Christ. Memorials can be made to the family to establish a nursing scholarship in memory of Denise. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.
Denise was born on October 4, 1941, in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of William G. and Anastasia Watson. She married Gilbert Davis in 1963 and together they had 3 loving children. They later divorced but continued to raise their children in a loving friendship. Denise graduated from Mount Sinai School of Nursing on a full MacNeal academic scholarship. She worked as an ER registered nurse on the south side of Chicago throughout the 60’s and at the Cook County Hospital, Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago, and Mercy Hospital in Davenport. She loved to tell stories about her nights in the ER to family members, especially with her niece Stacey McAdams.
Denise was a member of Church of Christ in Moline, IL. She loved being outdoors, sunbathing, and taking her children to Rainbow Beach in South Shore, Chicago. She liked to watch Court TV, read True Crime novels, and attending her AA meetings. Her favorite movies were “The Passion of the Christ”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “Goodfellas”, and “The Pope of Greenwich Village”. Denise and her granddaughters would lie in bed and watch “Goodfellas”, quoting lines from the movie together with laughter.
In her life, she became a friend of Bill W. Attending the University of Iowa, she became a certified addictions counselor who touched many souls in the community throughout her lifetime in the Quad Cities.
Survivors include her children, Colleen Davis of Moline, Kipp (Danielle) Davis of Berwyn, IL, Kelley Davis of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Vinessa Sacre, Allison Munos, Madison Blinick, Mason Meents; great grandchildren, Quinton, Anastasia, Santana; special and devoted son, Scott Meents; nieces Kim and Mayliah Chisholm; nephew Kristian Paulsen; and dear friends Dr. Randy Doyle, Toni Jensen, along with her friends at the Last Chance Group of Moline.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Amy; special friends, Charlotte McAdams and Patricia Bradley; and two grand dogs, Daisy and Julio.
