Dennis W. Johnston

Dennis W. Johnston, 70, of Rock Island, passed away March 12, 2025, at Generations at Rock Island.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family.

Dennis was born on January 8, 1955, in Chicago, the son of James A. and Jean A. Johnston. He married Sandra K. Farris. Dennis had been previously employed as a chef. He enjoyed spending time with his family and cooking for them. Dennis loved to play music, especially the organ and piano at church where he loved spending time with friends in fellowship with God. He enjoyed playing bingo and was known as a “dapper dan”. His family will miss him for his laughter and love of life.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy – he called her Sam, whom he was devoted to; sister, Carolyn (David) Wheatfill; brother, Gene (Cindy) Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Johnston and sister, Lori Miller.
