Dennis E. Schaefer

Dennis E. Schaefer, 75, of Moline, passed away January 17, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday January 22, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1450 30th Avenue, East Moline. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday January 21, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline. The burial will be at Rose Lawn Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, where Dennis was a member and former elder.

Dennis was born on February 28, 1949, in Moline, the son of Earl J. F. and Beulah M. (Tompkins) Schaefer. He married Marjorie K. “Margie” Allen on November 2, 1974, in Moline. Dennis was a U.S. Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Army and received a bronze star. He was previously employed at Case IH, Service Rubber, Oscar Meyer and later as a janitor at Black Hawk College, retiring in 2019. Dennis enjoyed music of all kinds, watching movies and was a collector of many things. He enjoyed being outdoors riding his electric bicycle, deer hunting, mushroom hunting and going on nature walks. 

Survivors include his wife, Margie; children, Timothy (Michelle) Schaefer, Yorkville, IL, Kelly (Ryan) Sanders, Moline, Peter Schaefer, Moline; father, Earl Schaefer, Moline; grandchild, Brooklynn Schaefer, Yorkville; sisters, Pamela (James) Swales, Center Point, IA, Gayla Schaefer, Moline.

He was preceded in death by his mother.
