Dolores A. Cook

Dolores A. Cook, 107, of Moline, passed away, December 14, 2024, at Bickford of Moline.

Funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church. 

Dolores was born on July 16, 1917, in Erie, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Emma (Hoerler) Shortridge. She married Dr. George A. Cook on May 24, 1941, at St. Anne Catholic Church in East Moline, IL. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1995.

Dolores graduated from Erie High School in 1935, and later graduated from Moline Public School of Nursing in 1938, becoming a registered nurse. She was employed as a supervisor and was formerly a MPH (Master of Public Health), retiring in 1941. Dolores was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, and formerly a member of St. Anne’s guild and on the board of T.B. Society. Dolores was also a member of Short Hills Country Club, and she loved to play bridge.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen H. Cook of Moline, IL, and Corinne Cook of Rock Island, IL; daughters-in-law, MaryAnn Cook of Las Vegas, NV, and Jacque Cook of Arizona; grandchildren, CoriAnn (Dr. Toby Hanson) Cook of Florida, Meagan (AJ Sherwin) Cook of Oregon, John Paul Cook of Ft. Collins, CO, and George Joseph Cook of Las Vegas, NV; 8 great-grandchildren; special friend, Judy Lambert of East Moline, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Ralph; husband, George; sons, George M. and Peter L. Cook; and sister, Beverly Thorne.

The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice and the employees of Bickford Cottage of Moline for the care given to Dolores.
