Dona J. Pitford, 66, of Coal Valley, died December 20, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2006 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS Church) ( 4800 Kennedy Dr. East Moline). Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave.,Moline. Burial will be the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of your choice or the Humanitarian Fund of The LDS Church.
Dona was born July 16, 1940 in Clark County, MO to Lynn and Azelma (Curtis) Miller. She married Robert L. Pitford on May 2, 1964 in Kahoka, MO.
She was employed as an elementary school teacher in Ft. Madison, IA and La Grange, MO. She was a member of The LDS Church,East Moline. She was a member and past president of Relief Society Organization and Compassionate Service Leader. She was a mother to 32 foster children. She enjoyed gardening, liked flowers, genealogy, scrap booking, and serving others. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
