Donald A. Larson, 82, of Moline, died December 4, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. A time to greet the family will take place immediately following the services. Private family burial will be prior to the service at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund or Arrowhead Ranch. Esterdahl Mortuary& Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Don was born October 7, 1924 in St. Louis, MO to Leon and Grace Schultz Larson. He moved to Moline when he was a year old. He married Lois Tollefson on December 17, 1949 at First Lutheran Church, Moline. Don graduated from MHS and attended University of Illinois where he was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity. In 1943 he joined the U.S. Army.
Don was an industrial packaging salesman for Material Control Systems, the former Larson Lumber Co. He was the editor of Industrial Packaging Publication.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he had been a six year member of the council. He was a former member of Moline Rotary and Chamber of Commerce. He was on the building committee for the YMCA, was the first chairman of Arrowhead Ranch Round-up, and a board member for 5 years at Camp Hauberg. and was past president of the Y's men club. He was an Athletic Field Representative for the University of Illinois under the coaching staff of Mike White. He designed the current logo for Q.C. Airport.
In 1986 Don received the Israel Trade Award from Israel Invest and Export Authority for being a leading importer of products from Israel.
