Donald E. Cox, 79, of Rock Island, died July 8, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Sat. July 12, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd.6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246.
Don was born January 16, 1929 in East Moline to Clarence and Dorothy (Phelps) Cox. He married Dolores J. Schave on November 10, 1951 in Moline.
Don was an assembler for 35 years for John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He retired in 1987. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1946-1949. He was a former member of the Moline Gospel Temple for 50 years where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was later a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Moline.
