Donald Eugene Grenko, 90, of Moline, died Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Aspen Rehabilitation and Health Care, Silvis, after a brief illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 800 17th St, Silvis.  Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until the service, at the church.  Burial will be at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Donald was born on September 28, 1927, in Centerville, IA, the son of John and Katherine (Golick) Grenko.  He worked at International Harvester on the assembly line for over 15 years, and later at the former Ford Motor Co., which later became Boeing, in the parts department.  Donald was a veteran, having proudly served in the U.S.Army.  He was a former member of the Croatian Fraternal Union.  He enjoyed bowling and polka music.  Although Donald had no children of his own, he loved and spoiled his nieces and nephews as his own.

Survivors include his siblings, Stanley (Roseann) Grenko, Chicago, Pat Swanson, Orion, and Charlie Grenko, Des Moines; 12 nieces; 3 nephews; sister-in-law, Urdine Grenko, Albuquerque, NM; and dear friend, Nick (June) Gallo, Centerville, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Grenko; and sister, Delores Cullison.
