Donald E. Mullins

Donald E. Mullins, 81, of Moline, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2018, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Moline Memorial Park Mausoleum and military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Fellowship, Moline, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Donald was born on March 26, 1937, in Green Castle, Missouri, the son of Earl and Grace (Swanson) Mullins.  He married Wilma Atherton and she preceded him in death.  He later married Norma J. Estes on April 25, 1998, in Coal Valley.

Don had been employed as a sheer press operator at John Deere, retiring after 30 years.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran and attended Eagle Summit Church.  He loved fishing and shrimping in Florida and he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Norma, Moline; step-daughter, Cathy Atherton, Michigan; step-son, Randy (Chris) Atherton, Nevada; step son-in-law, Gary Arnett, Florida;  step-grandchildren, Ben Arnett, East Moline, and Brian Arnett, Coal Valley; step-daughter, Carol (Gary) Buck, Oregon; step-sons, Tim (Fran) Estes, Vermont, and Jon (Tabatha) Estes, Moline; step-daughter, Leia (Tom) Peterson, Milan; 10 step-grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; special cousin, Wilma Swanson, Missouri; and special friend, Dr. Ed Clemmons, Milan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Hospice Compassus, Kristine, Steve, Lisa and Liz.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Wilma, step-daughter, Linda Arnett; his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
