Donald E. Temple, age 85, of Moline died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2005 at Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post # 246. Memorials may be made to the family.
Donald was born December 10, 1919 in Moline, the son of Everett and Clara Heeren Temple. He married Betty McMahon on November 10, 1945 in Moline.
Donald was employed as a warranty claims auditor for John Deere Industrial Equipment Company for 32 years , retiring in 1978. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps and a 6th Corps Ranger. Donald spent 3 years in South Pacific Theater while in the service. He was past commander and former adjutant and life member of Moline American Legion Post # 246, where he also served in the honor guard. Donald was past Chef de Gare of Rock Island County Voiture # 237 of the 40/8. He was also a life member of the Moline VFW # 2153 and a member of the Svithoid Club. He was a life-long fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and the Fighting Illini.
