Donna Jo Hamburg

Donna Jo Hamburg, 99, of Silvis, passed away, November 22, 2023, at Illini Restorative Care in Silvis.

Per Donna’s wishes, there will be no services held.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Donna was born on July 8, 1924, in New Windsor, IL, the daughter of Gertrude McFarlin and Glen Tornquist. She married Wayne Hamburg on January 4, 1946, in Bangor, Maine. She worked for the Rock Island Library for 16 years. Donna was always a very kind person; she’d give hugs to everyone. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother as she adored children. She was a devoted wife to her husband and a great friend to her daughter. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading, and traveling. Donna was sweet, friendly, a wonderful mother, and overall, very loving.

Survivors include her daughter Susan (Joseph) VanVooren; granddaughter Jane (Arturo) Villagomez; grandsons James (Shuron) Hamburg and Timothy Hamburg; great-grandchildren Jackson and Julia Rogers, Zarita, Laureli and Nathan Villagomez, Tanner, Jacob, and Treavor Hamburg, and Eboni and Raymond Evans; sister-in-law Donna Tornquist; special friends Donna Arvanis and Sue Swartz; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gertrude and Glen; husband Wayne; son Rick Hamburg; brothers Robert and Donald; sister Lenore Griffin.

The family would like to give their thanks to the Illini Restorative Care Staff and Genesis Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Donna.
