Dora M Wertz

Dora M. Wertz, age 99, formerly of Moline, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Private family burial is at Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Moline or First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley.
The former Dora M. Hancock was born to Austin B. and Edna G. (Holdsworth) Hancock on March 26, 1912 in Huron S.D. When she was five years old, the family returned to Illinois.
She was married to Clair J. Wertz on August 10, 1935 in Rock Island. He died September 29, 1978. She was married to Ernest Paradee on July 25, 1985 at The Little Brown Church in the Vale. He died November 28, 1989.
She was co-manager of the lunch room and mine supplies at Rex Coal Mine, Orion. She later was employed by Sears and Roebuck & Co. in Rock Island as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1952.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Moline and also attended First Presbyterian Church in Coal Valley.
She is survived by her brother Harley Hancock of East Moline and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her sister, Lota Cowdery and brother, Harvey Hancock.
