Doris Murphy

Doris Murphy, 89, of Green Rock, IL, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, 6601 38th Ave, Moline.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Activities Center.

Doris was born on December 3, 1929 in Battle Creek, IA, the daughter of Henry Earl Ewoldt, Jr. and Meta (Juelfs) Ewoldt. She married William N. Murphy March 14, 1958 in Rock Island, and he preceded her in death March 17, 1999. Doris worked many jobs including John Deere, Kmart, and Marshall’s. She was a member of the East Moline Moose Lodge and the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Colona, IL. Doris also enjoyed stock car races and was an avid Chicago Bulls fan.

Survivors include her sons, Michael H. (Peggy) Murphy, Colona, Bill Murphy, Colona; daughters, Becky (Jim) Dooley, Colona, Barb (Randy) Norris, Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Todd, Michael, Macey, Christa, Steven, Wil, and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, five sisters, and one brother.
