Doris L. Robinson, age 87, of Rock Island, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Visitation is from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Doris was born August 17, 1922 in Mercer County, IL, the daughter of John and Ella (Newswander) Sproston. She married Richard R. Robinson on June 24, 1945 at First Baptist Church in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2005.
Doris was employed by McCabe's in Rock Island and later by Von Maur and retired from their Moline location. Doris was an obedient servant of Jesus Christ. She and her husband raised their family while members of First Baptist Church in Rock Island. More recently, they were long time members of First Evangelical Free Church in Moline. In their early family years, they were active in the Illinois Foster Parents Program. Doris was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as teaching the art. Doris' biggest pleasure of her life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
