Dorothy Marie Brooks, 104, of Moline, IL, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church.
Dorothy was born on February 5, 1909, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Martin and Bertha (Jernander) Swanson. She married Kenneth W. Allison on December 19, 1964, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 1971, after a long illness. She then married William J. Brooks on November 10, 1971, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1983, also after a long illness.
She attended Moline schools and graduated from Moline High School in 1927. Dorothy was employed on September 6, 1927, by Standard Calorimeter Co. in East Moline which is now known as Parr Instrument Co., where she worked as a receptionist and office secretary. She retired in December 1971 after 44 years of service. Dorothy was a member of Elim Covenant Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Moline, IL.
Dorothy was one of the most generous people that you could ever meet. When she entered the room she emulated a positive energy that soon had everyone laughing. She was so loved by everyone who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
