Dorothy M Davis

Dorothy M. Davis, 86, of Moline, IL, died peacefully Thursday, April 20, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Dorothy was born on February 28, 1931, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Forrest W. and Alma B. Johnson Shinn.  She married Lee W. Davis on December 16, 1950, at First Congregational Church in Moline.  She graduated from Moline High School in 1949, attended Moline Business College and attained certification as a Professional Secretary at Black Hawk College.  She worked for John Deere, NASA at Edwards AF Base, California and as a Moline School secretary. She later worked as an administrative secretary to the District Manager of Aramark in East Moline for over 20 years, retiring in 1996.

Dorothy was an avid reader and enthusiastically attended aerobics classes at the Moline Activity Center and Aquatic Center at Black Hawk College.  She also enjoyed the special times shared with old friends at the Moline High School Class reunions.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Davis; 2 sons, Paul (Sharon) Davis, Camanche, IA, and Bradley A. Davis, Vineland, NJ; grandchildren, Kristopher Davis, Long Grove, IA, Cassie Davis, Silvis, IL, and Amanda Davis, Denver, CO, and great grandchildren, Cora Davis, Maxwell Davis, and Carter Morris.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kenneth, sister Bernadine, and 2 infant sons, Lee and Patrick.
