Dorothy J. DeVolder, age 87, of Moline, died Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the family.
Dorothy was born October 23, 1920 in Davenport, the daughter of Harry and Margaret (Hartman) Stem. She married Robert DeVolder in May, 1948 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Dorothy embraced all of life with open arms to everyone and everything, especially her great grandkids whom she played with, danced with, read to and spread her joy and love. Dorothy was employed as a claims specialist in the accounting department of Modern Woodmen of America for 22 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline. Dorothy was president for Modern Woodmen Camp 26 Woman's Auxiliary & Retirees. She was very active with the Girl Scouts; and community volunteer work. Dorothy belonged to many card clubs, enjoyed golfing, animals and was a seamstress for Goldsmith's, and helped with the costumes for Alleman High School productions.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie; son, Michael; great grandson, Matthew; and 2 sisters.
