Dorothy M. Kollman, 79, of Peoria, formerly of East Moline, IL, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Sharon Health Care Elms, Peoria, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th Street, Moline, IL. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. followed by a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road SW, Lilburn, GA, 30047.
Dorothy was born on March 25, 1938, in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of F. Martin and Mary C. Cissel Horn. She married Martin Hayes in Galesburg on August 5, 1961. They later divorced and he preceded her in death in November 1993. Dorothy married Robert D. Kollman June 5, 1985 in the Quad Cities and he preceded her in death on November 17, 2015.
Dorothy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing and continued her work throughout her life. She worked as a nurse for various hospitals and nursing homes and later in home care and child care. She taught nursing early in her career.
Dorothy was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline where she was an extraordinary minister and worked with SPEC. She was also a member of the East Moline VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her children, Ginny (Gene Taets) Hayes Manske, Silvis, IL, Christopher (Lisa) Hayes, Moline, IL, Laureen M. Hayes, Bloomington, IL, and Jannette (Chris) LaRoche, East Moline, IL; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Beckie Stout, Galesburg, IL, and Nancy (Guy) Smith, Menomonee Falls, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouses; brother, Fred Horn; sister, Betty Sweeney; several nieces and nephews.
