Dorothy Marie Leeds

Dorothy Marie Leeds, age 101, passed away May 29, 2024, at The Club of Bartow Assisted Living.

Dorothy was born On February 3, 1923, in Rock Island, IL to Robert & Esther Fisher. She graduated from Moline Sr. High School in 1941. She graduated from Moline Institute of Commerce and took several classes at Black Hawk College, completing the Real Estate course at Black Hawk. 

She lived in Long Beach, CA for seven years during WWII and until 1950, was employed by Douglas Aircraft and the Long Beach Independent newspaper. She lived in New York during the 1950's and was employed by the Actors Exchange, (a messenger service for actors) She was employed by Financial Security Life Insurance Company in Moline as Secretary to the President for 16 1/2 years until she retired to marry Cecil L. Leeds on May 15, 1976. She has resided in Florida since 1977, and during the summers in Fish Creek, Wisconsin. She was an active member of Insurance Women’s Organization of Moline for many years, and an active member of Mulberry United Methodist Church for many years.

She is survived by her children Debra (Dave) Thormahlen, Barry (Ellen) Leeds, Lisa (Charles) Tucker, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren who call her "Gigi".

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Warren and Richard.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Wednesday June 19, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Mulberry United Methodist Church: 306 N. Church Ave., Mulberry, FL 33860.

Private family burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Mulberry United Methodist Church in memory of Dorothy.
