Dorothy M. Nelson, 97, of East Moline, IL, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, at home.
Cremation rites have been accorded and the family will hold private services at a later date. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dorothy was born on January 30, 1920, in Monmouth, IL, the daughter of Otto and Emma Armstrong Reischling. She married John Albert Nelson in October of 1947. She was self-employed as an interior designer.
Dorothy was recipient of many senior awards. In her 50s, she could pull any water skier up out of the water in one try. She was the best boat driver and enjoyed boating and fishing well into her late 80s. She has always played Bingo and was an ace in any game of cards.
Survivors include her son, Dr. William “Joe” Nelson, San Antonio, TX; step daughter, Karen McMaster, East Moline, IL; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 daughters; infant son; one grandchild.
