Dorothy Jayne (McCauley) Martens, 87, of Davenport, formerly of Orion, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Ridge Crest Village, Davenport.
Rite of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 A.M, Friday, December 10, 2010 at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M., Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301 4th Street, Orion where a rosary will be recited at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Dorothy was born on March 21, 1923 to Archie and Rose Marie DePaepe McCauley in Rock Island, Illinois.
She married Albert A. Martens on November 25, 1948 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Dorothy and Albert shared 59 years together. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2007.
Dorothy graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Rock Island in 1941 and St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1946. Dorothy and Albert farmed north of Orion until retiring in 2005. She and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing. She was active in the Red Cross Blood Bank for years. Dorothy was a member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Orion. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She lived in Good Samaritan Village in Geneseo until health issues brought her to Ridge Crest Village in Davenport.
