Dorothy I. Wendel, age 79, of Moline, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6th, 2009 at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Association.
Dorothy was born June 23, 1929 in Mercer County Illinois the daughter of J. Roy and Ruth (Stevenson) Stead. Step mother Ruth Ketzle. She married her college sweetheart, Earl Wendel on December 23, 1950 in Aledo.
Dorothy was an elementary school teacher in Briar Bluff and later with the East Moline school district. She was a 1970 graduate of Augustana College. Dorothy was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline. She also was a member of the Methodist's Women's Club, a former Girl Scout leader, member of P.T.A. and member of East Moline Women's Club.
